Important Guidelines for Musicians Who Want to Play

It’s first-come, first-served.
You must write your name on the list with your own hand before 9:00 p.m. to get in the line-up. At least one member of your act must be present to sign up.
Latecomers might get in, but I’m not promising. If you don’t write your name on the list, even if you are my very best friend, I will probably forget about getting you to the mic.
Solo acts get 2 songs, Duos get 3, trios 3-4, and bands get 4-5 depending on what’s going on at the moment and how many people are waiting. If there’s no waiting list, you can play all night!
No electric guitars. Not even jazz guitars. The spirit of the law is that the volume remain at conversational levels. We want our audience to come back. Bass players get special dispensation due to how unreasonable it is to cart around a stand up bass.
If you want to have more than one turn, you can sign up again as soon as you finish playing your first turn. If time allows, you can play again.
If you are able to accompany others or incorporate other musicians into your act, you may be able to play more songs.
If you would like the opportunity to work with some other musicians, but you don’t know anyone – let me know, and I’ll do my best to hook you up.
If you are a singer, and you need people to play for you, you need to know what key you sing the song in, and we would LOVE IT EVEN MORE if you had charts for everyone IN YOUR KEY.

Acoustic Open Mic at the Country Tavern

Sandy Connolly’s popular Open Mic Night events are one-of-a-kind on Connecticut’s shoreline. It’s a bad-ass version of that childhood talent show you always wanted to be in but couldn’t muster up the courage to perform. But no courage is necessary for this gig: One of the many things that sets Sandy’s Open Mic apart from other venues is the supportive environment for both new and experienced musicians of all styles.

Great sound engineering is provided by the ever constant and fabulous donBriggsAUDIO! He makes sure we all sound the best we can.

Music usually begins at 7:30pm, early enough to come in and grab some decent pub grub at great prices. The Tavern’s famous 9oz killer, bad-ass burger is only $8.00 and beer is available on tap for $2.50.

If you aren’t a musician, you should come on down anyway! The atmosphere of the tavern and music puts off a fantastic vibe that you’ll be hard pressed to find anywhere else. You will get the chance to listen (and dance if you wish) to a lot of well-known and up-and-coming musicians all in one evening – in one spot.

The Guilford Country Tavern is located at 704 Long Hill Road in Guilford CT
Open Mic runs monthly, the last Wednesday of the month
Music begins at 7:30pm
All types of music and styles are welcome, as well as beginner musicians
Bring lots of friends and non-musician types along with you
Come hungry for the tavern’s burgers that are legendary
